GOLD COAST SUBURBS ARE THE ONLY QLD AREAS TO MAKE AUSTRALIA'S TOP 20

Tenants are looking for houses in Gold Coast suburbs that make the most of the city’s enviable lifestyle. New data from realestate.com.au shows the only Queensland suburbs in the top 20 most in-demand across the country are on the Gold Coast. The data is based on property views per listing for the six months to December 31.

Nerida Conisbee, realestate.com.au chief economist, said South Gold Coast suburbs were tightly held because of their beachside locations, which made them all the more appealing. “There are lots and lots of people looking in that area,” she said. “There are also fewer listings so it’s a little bit hard to find a rental in those areas.”

Latest CoreLogic data shows the median asking rent on the Gold Coast is $550. She said it was much cheaper than Sydney, which could be about $1500 a week. “You’ve got really nice suburbs for a really affordable price,” she said.

She said there also seemed to be a link between jobs and the suburbs that made the list. “As the only Queensland suburbs on the list, it suggests the Gold Coast is doing pretty well,” she said.
